SELF-PORTRAIT IN SNOW
Portrait in Landcape

The Portrait in Landscape includes a series of photographs where the facial imprint is set in dialogue with its immediate surroundings.

I played with the vegetation surrounding the imprint and experimented with the varying textures of snow. I also welcomed plants and rocks to become an integral part of the imprint.

The natural landscape was harnessed to act as a compositional counterpart to the facial trace. And the terrain enhanced the dynamics of the interplay.

Approaching the water’s edge offered me the opportunity to work with ice formations and to incorporate the cracks and the colours of the melting ice into the portraits.
